The Vancouver Eclipse Hockey Team

It is a dream for so many Canadians to just play hockey.

The Eclipse

Team picture with words

The Vancouver Eclipse Hockey Team is not your typical hockey team. We use the same equipment, skates & sticks as any other hockey team. We also share the same passion to play as all Canadian hockey teams do.
The unique thing about The Vancouver Eclipse is…. all of us are Visually Impaired or are Legally Blind – if not totally blind.
The difference about our game is the puck, & some of the rules. Both were adapted to help the visually impaired & blind players, but the basic rules of hockey still apply to the game.

Perhaps you have heard about us or have seen us on the news, at an Abbotsford Heat game, or most recently, at a Vancouver Giants home game. The sport of blind hockey has grown to great lengths across Canada and has been presented internationally at the recent International Blind Sports Association AGM held in Denmark this past August. Countries such as Russia, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia and the USA have shown great interest in blind hockey.

We are always looking for new players, coaches, sponsors and organizations who can help in getting blind hockey to international tournament status. The registered charity Courage Canada – hockey for the blind and learn to skates for blind school kids across Canada, has been a major drive of this initiative as they prepare for another national Blind Tournament this March in Toronto. Players from across Canada and some from the USA will attend again next year and Courage Canada needs your help in getting this tournament to another epic event. Visit www.couragecanada.ca or go to our Contact Us page to get involved.
