 The Eclipse 

 The Vancouver Eclipse Hockey Team is not your typical hockey team. We use the same equipment, skates & sticks as any other hockey team. We also share the same passion to play as all Canadian hockey teams do.
The unique thing about The Vancouver Eclipse is….most of us are Visually Impaired or are Legally Blind - if not totally blind.
The difference about our game is the puck, & some of the rules. Both were adapted to help the visually impaired & blind players, but the basic rules of hockey still apply to our game.

 We are wrapping up another great year of hockey by the end of March. After 15 years of playing in the Little mountain area, we have moved to the centrally located Moody Park Arena, uptown New Westminster - 701 8th Avenue. The rink is a short bus ride from the new Westminster skytrain station. 

Catch the  123 Brentwoodf station which goes straight up 8th street and only 6 stops to the 8th street and 8th Ave stop at the  new West Secondary School stop, and a half block walk east to the rink. 

THE COURAGE CANADA NATIONAL BLIND HOCKEY TOURNAMENT - FEB 15 - 17th 2013 at  MAPLE LEAF GARDENS - TORONTO.

We are back with medals around our necks! The Eclipse did great again this year with hauls of Gold, Silver and Bronze. Two of our players even won the tournament MVP and Most Sportsman Like. go to our tournament Info page to read all about how it went and who won what.

A special THANK YOU  to all our sponsors, supporters, family and friends who came out to our fund raisers, watched us play in the AHL Abbotsford heat game, and attended our annual pub night. We could not have done it without all of you!

NEWS FROM 2012.

 The Eclipse attended the Defi Winter Challenge this year held in Quebec City March 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2012.  The tournament was great as this year two teams were drafted and played a best of 3 games series. 3 of the Eclipse players including our coach, won Gold while the other 4 players including our other coach won Silver.  Go to our Sponsorship Page to see the names of who won.

Since 1995, the Vancouver Eclipse has been meeting each week to play a game of ice hockey. The beginning was a challenge. Many things had to be put into place, ice times, fundraising for equipment and, most importantly, getting the word out to the blind community that they could live their dream and play ice hockey. Gary Steeves who had played on blind ice hockey teams in Calgary and Toronto met Rob Cammozzi, another visually impaired hockey player. He knew that once he found one person who wanted to play there would be many more to come. They worked hard to get the program going. Thanks to their dedication over the years we still have a weekly hockey program and the possibility to be part of a national blind hockey movement.
